“I was up for the job of second guitarist on the Pink Floyd Animals tour and if it had been up to David Gilmour then I might have got it, but Roger Waters wanted Snowy White. I was too young.
“David kept asking me ‘Do you fancy yourself?’ and I hadn’t got enough confidence to say the right thing. They gave me such a boost in the business afterwards and it meant that I could almost pick and choose any job I wanted. But my story is down to luck and always has been.”
